GSN's 1 vs. 100

Thanks to Chad Mosher who posted the premiere episode of 1 vs. 100 the new GSN version on Youtube.com we are able to bring a review.

First off you can see that there have been some changes to the show. One of the major changes is that the show has dropped its $1 Million top prize and it's now $50,000. The show is now shortened from 1 hour to 30 minute broadcasts. And the mob is no longer in person on stage.

Now my opinions:
We now have a new host to the show. Move over Bob Saget (Full House) and in Carrie Ann Inaba (Dancing With the Stars) to host the show. It is a bit different but can't really say anything about her hosting style as it is too early to tell.

I must say that dropping the grand prize down to $50,000 might not make the game more tantalizing but, I guess since the show is no longer a mainstream network game show in the US (aka ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.) anymore then well I guess that would explain a lot on the prize drop.

Another thing is we see that the show has reverted back to the two helps rather than offering three. "Poll the Mob" & "Trust the Mob". Unfortunately GSN decided to drop "Ask the Mob". I guess since Ask the Mob might be more difficult now with the new mob setup. Amongst the changes, the Mob is now on a big screen rather than being in person on the stage. In my opinion about this, it makes the mob less intimidating for the contestants. I mean when the mob is out there on the stage you can easily read them where as with them all on web cams they can easily easily poker face it.

Now my final comment on the show. Over all I would say it's not really that impressive for a comeback, but maybe it will come back for a second season. If so, Shaggy32 has this to say, I will definitely try out for either the mob or the one!

Remember if you want to catch new episodes of 1 vs. 100 on GSN Monday-Friday @ 7:00pm EST / 4:00 PM PST.

Game Show Video of the Week: (11/13/10 - 11/21/10)

I know it's been two weeks since the death of Charlie O'donnell of Wheel of Fortune so this week's video is going to be from the 11/5/10 episode of Wheel of Fortune. Not only do Pat and Vanna tribute the voice behind the wheel, but there is also a really amazing Wheel Solve during the main game!

11/5/10 - I've Got a Good Feeling About This!

11/5/10 - Charlie O'Donnell Tribute

I know watching the first one, we've got Jeopardy's own announcer "Johnny Gilbert", the team at Wheel might've did a quick dub over Charlie's parts for the already taped episodes due to the fact that it might be in poor taste to have Charlie O'Donnell's segments still in after his death for the current tapings. Also Pat and Vanna re-did their closing segment for the episode to tribute O'donnell. I think that this might've been a good idea for right now. Also If it is true that Rich Fields is coming to the Wheel for right now. To special guest fill-in, we'll try to get a clip of it.

Thanksgiving Marathons for GSN

On Thanksgiving Day, GSN will be serving up Deal or No Deal (Syndicated). 9AM-6PM as usual. I wonder if this marathon will fail because Syndie Deal or No Deal hasn't done so good. It did good on the first night GSN showed it.

Day after Thanksgiving marathon, GSN will air Wheel of Fortune. Not the 1994-1995 season. One of the current seasons. There is some buzz going on the GSN Message boards about this if the show will be on the schedule like in Midday or Primetime or something. I'm excited GSN is airing this Day after thanksgiving. This marathon will air 9AM-3PM ET.

Rich Fields to tape additional 35 Wheel episodes

According to GameShows.about.com, Rich Fields will be guest announcing Wheel of Fortune for 35 more episodes. As you might know, Rich Fields has been guest announcing on Wheel of Fortune. His episodes may not air until like 2011, obviously. Here is what Gameshows.about.com said (Thursday, November 11, 2010):

"There's been no official announcement regarding Rich Fields taking over the spot permanently, and I'm guessing that's because the powers that be are waiting to see how the 12 episodes he's already voiced will go over once they've all been aired. I'm not going to jinx anything here by making projections, but this is definitely positive news."

"The funeral mass for former Wheel announcer Charlie O'Donnell was held yesterday, and by all accounts it was a lovely service. In attendance were Pat Sajak, Vanna White, Wink Martindale, Bob Eubanks, Dick Clark, Bob Goen, Rich Fields, and Randy West, among many others."

Charlie O'Donnell Passed away...

According to Buzzerblog, Charlie O'Donnell passed away. He passed away overnight. Now a GSN Message Board user (Whom I'm not going to mention his name) said "I don't see why this man would deserve a day of his announcing on Wheel of Fortune which GSN doesn't even have the rights to anymore. I mean, Charlie O' Donnell wasn't that well known of announcer like Olson, Wood, and Clark were."

Well, let me tell you, He may not be a "well-known" announcer but he has been announcing on Wheel of Fortune since the 1980's if I recall correctly. Heck, Johnny Gilbert wasn't well known either and he's been announcing on Jeopardy! since the 1980's.

He has announced on other shows in the past such as (Card Sharks, Trivia Trap, Family Feud, To Tell the Truth) That is according to Wikipedia. They haven't updated his page yet.

R.I.P Charlie O'Donnell
